Pastels for Spring Makeup Look feat. Quo & Gosh Cosmetics!*

Saturday, April 23, 2016

These last couple of weeks I've been in the Spring mood and that has reflected in so many of my blog posts and makeup looks. For today's look, I thought I would play around with some more pastel colors. I've never really played around with those shades too much. I generally steer clear of pastel shades because they tend not to be pigmented, can get patchy and just don't look right on my fair skin. I'm sad that I gave pastel shades such a bad wrap before because after playing around with this look I really want to play around with more pastel shades.

Today's look features products, once again, from the Quo Cosmetics Spring Collection* which I have already written my full review on that can't be READ HERE and some lovely products from Gosh Cosmetics. I've been really putting these products to the test over the last few weeks and every time I play with them I'm more and more impressed. Today I wanted to focus my look around the Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Colorful Life*. Like I said I haven't played with pastel shades that much and when I received this palette in the mail it was a product that really caught my eye and I wanted to use immediately.

For my flawless face base, I once again stuck to the usual products that I always use. I'm also sticking to some of the same products because I'm working hard on my Project Pan Challenge that I posted the beginning of this month. If you don't know I'm taking the next three months to use up 20 makeup products including many primers, foundations and concealers. For the rest of my face, I decided to use another one of the Gosh Giant Blushes in Passion Parfait which looks like a beautiful bright coral pink shade but comes off in a variety of shades depending on how heavy handed you are. I also decided to take my contour to the next level today and make it much more dramatic to slim down my face using the NYX Powder Blush in Taupe. Here is everything else that I used:
  • Makeup Forever HD High Definition Primer
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer - used under the eyes and to highlight
  • Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in 905
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
  • NYX Powder Blush in Taupe - old formula and discontinued
  • Gosh Giant Blush in Passion Parfait
  • Elf Studio Blush in Gotta Glow - used as highlighter
  • Smashbox Photo Ready Primer Water - used as a setting spray

In this more subdued and pastel look, I really wanted to have a main focal point to bring the entire look together. I decided to use the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Lust for Blush. Once getting this on I decided that the matte look was something that didn't fit well with this entire look so I added the Essence XXXL Lipgloss in Nude Kiss on top and loved how it turned out. The gloss didn't alter the color of the lipstick but it gave it the shine and hydration that it needed and kept it feeling really comfortable on my lips for hours!

And finally for the fun part, the eyes. As I said in the beginning of the post, I really wanted to play around with the Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Colorful Life* to jump outside my comfort zone. To create this overall look I did use a few shades from the Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity* because I didn't feel like the Colorful Life palette had that perfect transition color. I used the dark gray shade and purple shade in the crease from the Infinity Palette. I then switched to the Colorful Life Eye Palette and used a medium pink shade all over the inner third of the lid and a purple shade on the outer third of the lid. And because I wanted some brightness, I used a small amount of the white shade on my browbone and inner corner as well as lightly on the center of the eyelid. I finished with some classic winged eyeliner and mascara. Here is a full list of what I used:
  • Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool
  • Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity *
  • Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Colorful Life *
  • LA Splash Art-Ki-Tek Slim Eyeliner *
  • Marcelle Ultimate Volume Mascara * - used on upper lashes
  • Lancome Hypnose Start Mascara * - user on lower lashes
  • Essence Eyebrow Designer in Blonde *
  • Essence Make me Brow in Blonde
  • Essence Fixing Wax *

Overall I'm really happy with how this look turned out and how pretty the pastel shades were on my fair skin. The only thing I wish I had concentrated more on was getting a more precise point on my winged eyeliner and using a different mascara. The Marcelle Ultimate Mascara is a bit lackluster for me and I think having my lashes stand out in this look would have really made it that much more beautiful. I'm really excited to continue to branch out with new products and colors and continue experimenting with my everyday makeup looks.

  1. A blogger friend from Canada just sent me a Quo palette. I can't wait to try because I've never tried the brand. I think you did an excellent job. With makeup it's all about trying and seeing what works.
