QUO Cosmetics Spring 2016 Collection Review & Swatches!*

Saturday, April 9, 2016

For the last few weeks, I've been sharing snippets of the new Quo Cosmetics Prismatic Collection for Spring 2016 all over Twitter, Instagram and here on the blog. The day has finally come where I am fully ready to share all of my thoughts on these beautiful products. I had the amazing pleasure to receive these products as PR samples and was immediately overwhelmed by the beautiful packaging that Quo is always known for. As soon as I got the products I started digging in which you can learn more about by reading the Spring Beauty Makeup Look that I posted earlier in the week.

Quo Cosmetics has been on my radar for the last few collections they've done now. Every time I'm visiting Shoppers Drug Mart I immediately notice the beautiful, elegant packaging of the Quo products and then of course the beautiful products inside this packaging. In the past, I've only tried one product from Quo and it was their Face Palette from a previous limited edition collection. I've used this product dozens of times since purchasing it because it contains a great contour shade for my fair skin. Because I haven't had much experience with this brand before I was even more excited to test these products out and use them in my daily makeup routine.

Quo Cosmetics Prismatic Collection Spring 2016

This year Quo Cosmetics released their Spring Collection called the Prismatic Collection Spring 2016 which you can find exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada. This collection features beautiful eye palettes, face palettes and even some beautiful Spring nail polish shades for every type of women. The full line-up of products includes:
  • Prismatic Eye Palette in Colourful Life*
  • Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity*
  • Prismatic Eye Palette in Intergalactic
  • Prismatic Face Palette in Moonwalk
  • Prismatic Face Palette in Stardust
  • Prismatic Brow Kit*
  • Quo by ORLY Polishes in Stand Out, Cultured Classic, Retro Glam and Always Chic
Both the Eye Palettes and Face Palettes retail for $18, the Brow Kit retails for $12 and the nail polishes retail for $10 each. So while these aren't prices of your normal drugstore products, they are more of a mid-range pricing as well as brand. Quo Cosmetics is a nice balance between drugstore beauty products and high-end products both in quality, price and effectiveness.

Quo Cosmetics Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity

The first product that I was able to try from this beautiful line was the Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity. Immediately when I opened this product I knew that this was going to be a go-to palette for me and it certainly has been. The top row contains because light white, champagne and peach shades that are perfect for highlighting on fair skin. The bottom row contains more dramatic colors ranging from rose gold, to dark gray, purple and more. Along with the color variety is also the variety of finishes. This palette contains 7 matte shades and 3 satin shades making this the perfect balance to create an all over look without reaching for other shadows.

I've used this palette several times now including the recent Spring Beauty Makeup Look that I posted earlier this week. You can see that the shades really combine well to create an all over natural and pretty look. I have used pretty much every shade and I feel like they all have a really consistent formula. They apply beautifully and blend effortless. I do have to say though that this palette creates a very neutral classic look, so if you prefer a more bold smokey look then you might not prefer this palette. Another thing I want to mention is that these shadows are a softer formula and used with certainly brushes this can cause some powder kick-up. For and easy and everyday wearable look, I highly recommend grabbing this palette if you are a neutral lover looking for grab the next best thing in makeup!

Quo Cosmetics Prismatic Eye Palette in Colorful Life

The second palette I was able to try from this launch was the Prismatic Eye Palette in Colorful Life which contains the most beautiful pastel shades. The shades in this palette remind me of colored Easter Eggs and at first, I was a little worried about this palette because I haven't used a lot of pastel shades because they can sometimes be hit or miss both in formula and in color on my fair skin. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this palette and fell in love with many of the shades. Just like the previous palette this contains a variety of finishes including, 8 matte shades and 2 satin shades which aid in creating a full look with this palette. For me, I felt that this palette worked best in combination with the Infinity palette that I just chatted about. I also think that this palette will always work best when you combine it with other shadows or other palettes.

One of the main things I want to point out with this palette specifically is that there is quite a bit of product kick up in comparison to the Infinity palette. However, I feel like this is really manageable when working with these shades because the texture is soft, the shadows blend beautifully and overall the palette is a great asset to my collection. I would have never picked this particular palette out for myself so I'm really happy that I was able to try something more unique and I'm even more excited that I wound up loving this palette so much.

Quo Cosmetics Prismatic Brow Kit

The final product I was about to try out from the Spring release was the Prismatic Brow Kit, which currently only comes in one shade. Because this product contains both a light brow powder and a dark brow powder I feel like this product would work for many different hair colors. However, I do wish the colors would have been in two separate products so that consumers would have had a choice and a product with more product in it. I used the lightest shade for my brows and I found that the product was a bit too golden for me. With the upcoming summer though my hair does tend to get a bit more golden from the sun so I do think that in a few months this product would work much better for me. As for the wax, I find this product very smooth and light feeling in the brows but it also does a great job at holding the hairs in place.

Overall I'm extremely impressed with the Quo Prismatic Spring Collection 2016 and I'm soo excited to be able to use these products more. Out of all of the products the Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity is the product that stands out to me the most. The diversity of color, easy to use nature and the overall look's that this was able to create really makes in the stand out product of the three I was able to try. My least favorite product would have to be the Prismatic Brow Kit simply because it doesn't match my hair color well and because I think the overall color could have been better within this product. I do have to say that the formula of this product is absolutely amazing! I've already used these products so much and I can't wait to share some more makeup looks featuring these very amazing products. Yesterday I headed down to my local Shoppers Drug Mart to take a look at other products in the range and I will let you know that there wasn't much left. So I highly recommend getting down to your local Shoppers Drug Mart and grabbing these products as soon as you can!
