Project Pan Update #1 // Finish 20 by July 1st

** please make sure to read the Introduction to this Project Pan here!

Back the beginning of April I shared my very first post to the ultimate Project Pan Challenge where I plan to finish up 20 makeup and skincare products before July 1st. This was a huge challenge and back then I thought it was completely possible for me. Now that I'm a month into this challenge, I'm realizing how much of a challenge that it actually is because I don't wear makeup every single day and I don't use skincare every single day.

Going into this second month of this Project Pan Challenge, I'm wanting to really make it a mission in my day to day life to apply some sort of makeup and skincare products. While I won't be applying a full face of makeup I want to make sure I'm using the products to the best of my abilities even if I'm just applying primer.

L'OReal Hydra-Total 5 Micellar Water*
200 ml retails for $8.47
This is by far the product I have used the most of in the last month. As you can see I finished roughly half of the product I had left when I posted my introduction to this challenge. I use this product on four cotton rounds to remove all of my makeup in the evening and this has been a gentle and effective way to do that. I have other Micellar Waters to use after this one but it's definitely going on my repurchase list even at this point in the challenge.

L'OReal Hydra-Total 5 Toner*
200ml retails for $8.40
Next was the toner. This was a product I really concentrated on using in the last month and the one I feel the most discouraged with. I certainly thought that I had used WAY more of this product than what I did. However, I don't feel like I need to use a lot of this product for it to be effective. I also find that using too much of this product leaves a film on my skin. This prevents me from over using the product on a day to day basis.

L'OReal Hydra-Total 5 Moisturizer*
50ml retails for $12.97
For the moisturizer, this is the product I'm struggling to see the most progress with. I'm trying to use it in the same area every time and I do notice a small dip in the product but I do still feel like I have about half the product left. I'm using this product pretty consistently and I find that when I apply more of this it works more effectively. So I'm going to be trying really hard in the next month to use this product every single night!

Lancome BI-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover*
1.7 oz // Full size is 4.2 oz and retails for $36.50
This was a product in the first update that was a gimmie product and after that update, I used the product up in one use. While I enjoyed this product, since trying Micellar Water, I don't feel like I would repurchase this. Not to mention the higher than average price point for a makeup remover. I know for some people this is a cult favorite and I do think it's very good, I just think there are other removers out there that are less expensive and perform better. If you're looking for a more affordable option the Marcelle Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is extremely comparable!

ELF Makeup Mist & Set
60 ml and retails for $3
If you look really close at the image above you can tell slightly where my introduction mark was and how much product I've used. I haven't used this product a lot because I keep forgetting about it. My MAC Fix+ sits right out on my desk/vanity and I just reach for that one. For the next month, I'm going to be putting my MAC Fix+ away and bringing my ELF Mist & Set out onto my desk so it's easy to get at and visible when I'm doing my makeup. I'm also wanting to try this product throughout the day to refresh my skin and give me a nice cool feeling on the coming hot days.

Makeup Forever HD High Definition Primer
30ml but is discontinued
This has been the only primer I have been focusing on the last month because I really want to get this one out of my collection. I absolutely love this primer because it's smooth and hydrating but because it's discontinued I don't want to continue to use it and recommend something you just can't get. This product spreads out really easily and quickly which means that you don't need to use a lot of product to get the desired effect you need.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
0.16 oz // Full-size is 3.9 oz and retails for $37
Another product that I was able to completely use up was the mini-sample I had of the Primer Water. I'm 100% not repurchasing the product and I'm very happy that I got to sample this product before purchasing a full-size. I feel like this just did nothing for my skin both as a primer or as a setting spray. I highly recommend MAC Fix+ if you are looking for a spray for both priming your skin or setting your makeup.

Benefit POREfessional Face Primer*
0.10 oz // Full-size is 0.75 oz and retails for $39
To be completely honest, I have not used this product since the first update. I'm just very on the fence about using this product because it doesn't pair well with the Covergirl Foundation in this project. So hopefully I can work through the Covergirl Foundation and then rotate in something new so that I'm able to use the two samples of this product that I have just sitting around.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer
0.30 oz retails for $10 (ish)
With the transition from Winter to Spring (which I swear I will be done talking about soon) I've been reaching for this eyeshadow base more because my eyelids have been getting a bit more oily. I've used a decent amount of this product and certainly more than I thought I had. I've used one of these eyeshadow primers up before and I feel like it took me a very long time. So continuing on with this I feel like this might extend beyond this challenge.

Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer
0.17 oz // Full-size is  oz and retails for $5.96
Surprisingly I also used this primer quite a big in the last month. This product was great if I was using a more dry eyeshadow or if my lid's were feeling dry in the first place. This product is one of my favorite from the drugstore and I have a back-up tube of this so I'm really wanting to work through this little mini-sample.

Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in 905
30 ml retails for $12.97
This is the foundation I've been using every single time I've been doing my makeup. The great thing about this foundation is that I can use a light layer all over my face as a starting base (and then I usually apply the L'OReal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation) or I can just use this foundation as a concealer because of its great coverage. So while I might not be using this as a traditional foundation sometimes I am getting good use out of it.

Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in 910
30 ml retails for $12.97
As for the foundation in the shade 910, this is just really too dark for me so I have not used this. I'm wanting to use the last wee little bit of this product up in the next few months mixed with the shade 905. These two shades mixed together make my perfect summer shade. This product, however, is getting quite old now so I'm hoping it's still going to perform the same way.

Maybelline Master Conceal in Fair
12 ml retails for $9.96
I used this product for roughly a week or two after posting my introduction to this challenge and then I decided that this product just wasn't something I wanted to fuss with anymore. The product was really dry underneath of my eyes and on blemish spots. Throughout the day, I found myself checking the mirror more often and the concealer itself just felt weird on my face. I decided it was just time for this product to go. I really loved this product when I first purchased it because of its great coverage and amazing feel but as the product got older (and it was only a few months old) I noticed the formula and texture changed a lot. I personally wouldn't repurchase this product again because I have found something better.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Light
0.2 oz retails for $10.96
Like the concealer above, I also find this one to be really dry and hard to work with. However, I'm keeping this one around for a bit longer because there is a lot of product still left. I'm mixing tiny amounts of this in with my current concealer and it seems to be working alright until about mid-day when it starts to sink into my fine lines. I've used an entire tube of this product once before and I really enjoyed it so I'm starting to wonder if I purchased a tube that was older and that's why the formula seems to be so different then the one I used up previously.

NYX Powder Blush in Taupe
0.14 oz and is discontinued
This is my favorite cheek and contour product of all time and it's really starting to get old. I've been using this every time I've been doing my makeup and I'm finding that I'm having to press harder and harder to get product to transfer. from the container to my brush and then to my face. I've made a little bit more progress in this but because of the formula change, I think it's going to be one of those never ending products.

LA Color Jumbo Eye Pencil in Seashells
0.13 oz retails for $3 (ish)
This is another product I've used every single time that I've done my makeup and I feel like I've made no progress in it. I have sharpened this product once and I don't use very much of it each time I do my makeup. I'm hoping that I can make a dent in this but I feel like this is the one product I'm really struggling with.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool
0.14 oz retails for $6.96
I also decided that after half a dozen times of trying to make this product work that I would ultimately throw this product in the trash as well. While I've used up a previous Too Cool shade before this one, I found that this one just got too dry to use. I pushed all the product to one side and I began mixing the product every time I used it but nothing seemed to be working anymore. I also found the glitter in this product to be quite sharp when I applied this on the eyes.

Joe Fresh Eye Shadow in Smoke
0.08 oz and is discontinued
This last month, I've really been playing with more warm toned shades on my skin so this eyeshadow has been taking a backseat. While I've used this a few times, I haven't used it nearly as much as I thought I would. With the warmer weather coming I think I'll continue to use those warm shades so I fear I might not see the progress on this that I'm wanting.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Magic (LE)
0.05 oz // Full-size is 0.27 and retails for $23
I've used this gloss a handful of times both over some lipsticks and just on its own. I find the formula very nice one's its applied to the lips and has time to heat up on the lips. Upon application, it's a bit sticky but it leaves my lips with a nice shine and they don't feel too dry or sticky as the day wears on.

Clinique Long Last Glosswear in Love at First Sight
0.07 oz // Full-size is 0.2 oz and retails for $21
On the opposite side as the previous lipgloss, I found this one to be very sticky and uncomfortable. I tried using this both on its own and over lipsticks and just really disliked the formula. I'm going to try this out with a few more lipsticks formulas but I don't think this is something I'm going to reach for that much.

So there you have it, my first update for my Project Pan Challenge. I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made and I'm looking forward to the next month and really trying to use my products on a more consistent basis. I'm also thinking I want to do some Project Pan specific makeup looks to share here on the blog so you can see how I'm using the products. Overall, I'm just happy that I've finally decided to do a project like this and that I'm working through products.

What do you think of my update?
Have you done a Project Pan before? If so, what were your experiences like?
