The palette retails at Wal-Mart for $8.97 (CAN) and contains 12 shades ranging from matte brow bone shades to deep dark chocolate shades. There is also a fantastic variety of finishes in this palette including matte, satin, and metallic. Comparing this palette to others in my collection I do think that many shades are similar to those in the Naked 2 Palette, The Balm Nude Tude Palette, and Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (Should I do a dupes post?). This got me really excited to use the Lovatic's Palette to see how it compared to the high-end versions that have similar shades.
One of the biggest thing I noticed in this palette upon swatching and using it was the level of pigmentation in all of the shades. When I first began to really focus on this palette I swatched all of the shades and they came out just as intense as Urban Decay or Kat Von D shadows that I have in my collection. I found that applying them to the eyes, they lacked a little bit of the pigmentation but were still able to be built up and produce a really pretty look. In saying that, some of the medium to deep shades do come out similar on the eyes. I like to use the deepest shades of a palette to deepen the outer v and crease of my eyelid. I found when I did this with the darker shades there really wasn't the level of gradience that I wanted. You can even see this in the makeup look I have posted below. As the days worn on I also noticed that many of these shades just faded together and then started to really fade on my eyes. This is a big sign for me that the shadows just don't have lasting power.
I was able to make some really pretty looks with this palette (including the one below) but overall, I would continue to reach for my high-end palettes. While I think the NYC Lovatic's Palette is great for the $9 bucks, it's lack luster in a lot of departments now that I'm used to using more high-end shadows. There definitely is a market for this palette though including those who are just starting out in makeup and looking to play around with more neutral and bold looks. I also think this is great if you're just going out of the house for a few hours and need something on the eyes. But I wouldn't recommend this palette for wearing all day or even to a special event.
Here is one of the many looks that I put together using this palette. I wanted to show you in photography and real life what the palette looked like on the eyes and paired as a whole face look. The first two images were taken right after the application process was completely and the eye images were taken about 1 - 3 hours after the application process. Already you can see that my eyeshadow has blended together and looks faded. I also feel like all of the glitter in the shades I used gave me insane fallout and I felt the need to be looking at my face every ten minutes to make sure I was glitter free. I love the initial look and I do wish it would have stayed that pretty throughout the entire day.

Overall I would have to say that I'm pretty disappointed in this palette. It swatched absolutely beautiful and I heard such great things about it that I thought it would be a huge staple in my collection. I'm sad to say that's just not the case. And if I'm being honest, I don't know how much I will actually use this palette after this post. As I said before, I would rather reach for my high-end products that I paid a significant amount of money for compared to this $9 palette. I'm hoping that I can will myself to use this palette in the summer to see if the season change and the change in my skin has anything to do with it. Like I said above, this has it's place and if you are new to makeup and wanting to try things out I suggest grabbing this. My sister purchased this shortly after I did and she uses hers all the time and loves it. However, for experienced pros' and makeup artists, I would save your money!
