Project Pan!

Friday, March 27, 2015

Hey Beauties! Its time for a little bit of Spring cleaning over here at Little Beauty Bug Headquarters (ou, how official) and thus I need to start using up some makeup products. Also my most recent favorite has been watching Project Pan videos on YouTube, I've watched close to 100 now and I still have a long list of one's I want to watch. This inspiration and the Spring time weather got me inspired to shop of stash and start using up some favorite things and start using up some things I've been neglecting. I really just need to use some things up so I can rotate some other things from my collection into my everyday makeup routine. I've decided to pick seven products to include in my very own Project Pan, and how this is going to work is below you will see a picture of how each product looks currently, some are marked to show how much product is in the tube and so forth. Every two weeks, or so, I will be doing a very similar post including images so you can see how much or how little progress I have done on the products. These posts (including this one) may get long, so grab some tea and a cookie and enjoy it - because I really think this could help inspire you all to do something similar. If you already are doing something similar PLEASE leave me the links to your posts or videos or whatever below cause I'd really love to follow your progress and maybe we could motivate each other. Now that I may have rambled a little bit too much lets get onto which products I chose and why!

First off, I decided to include my everyday under eye concealer. I thought this would be a super easy product to start off with because I think its something that I use every single day and that I can use up completely in a good amount of time. I prefer to use this shade under my eyes along with a lighter concealer to do some more brightening. However, I have used this on my face but its a tad to light so I tend to use this under my foundation so that my face makeup can be a little bit more high coverage, I also find this gives the foundation something more to stick to and keeps it on longer. As you can see this is a product I've marked right above the word 'master' and this is about 1/3 used up and I'm loving it! I hope I can get a big chunk of this down before the first update!

Second item up is also something I use ALMOST everyday and is a product I've had in my collection for years and it just keeps going and going and going. I will be sharpening this with my next use so it will become slightly shorter, but I've used about half this product already. I use this as an eyeshadow base color on top of my Milani Eyeshadow Primer but below powder eyeshadows to make them pop some more. I also am going to try to use this up by using it as a waterline color and maybe even a browbone highlight, if I really blend it out it might be able to work. I think this product may take me a while to use up depending on how heavy handed I am with it, but I will give you more updates as I continue to use this product.

This is my ALL time favorite lipstick its a Maybelline Color Whisper in Lust For Blush! This is the prettiest your lips but better color and its so smooth and hydrating and just something every girl needs in her life. I have sadly been neglecting this because I've been using my Baby Lips so much more but its time to pull out some more opaque products for the Spring time and because I love this so much I feel like I could make a good dent in it. I also feel like I have so many similar colors like this one in my collection that I really want to rotate them and try and use as many up as possible. I have used about half of this product you can see on the metal part where I have placed a black line, this is where the product currently sits when its completely twisted down. I have made good progress in it so far, but I really want to get this one gone!

This is a mascara I have a love hate relationship with. This gives amazing volume and length and is super black. It curls the lashes so well and really does keep them stay curled all day. However, this flakes and smudges and because around this time of the year I can get watery eyes this really doesn't do anything for me but make a horrible mess. I know, I know, then why am I going to try to use it up. Well I only feel like this smudges IF I'm wearing it with eyeshadow or liner. On its own this mascara does a great job at giving me that mascara look and doing exactly what I want it to do all day. Weird, I know. But because I have this love hate thing with this mascara I really just want to use it cause I sometimes love it and get it gone cause I sometimes hate it. This product is super affordable though and probably could be topped with a waterproof primer to make it last all day.

The next product I have a huge chunk of pan on. This was gifted to me by the lovely Essence Cosmetic's and its something I'm over the top in love with and will be repurchasing. I've had this for about 6 or 8 months now and its getting older and I can tell the powder texture is changing the further I get into using this so I want it gone so I can start fresh. I use this ALMOST everyday for underneath my eyes for some brightness, but recently I've actually been using this powder to do the lovely 'buffing' technique that @gossmakeupartist has talked about in some of his latest videos! You can find more about that on his channel, but this powder really does work great all over the face, keeps me matte all day long and doesn't look cakey or gross.

This is the one product in this post that I absolutely cannot live without. I have finished up one of these primers before and I'm about halfway through finishing up this one and I will be repurchasing it. However, there are also some others in my collection that I want to use up, but I've included this one because my skin is going through a super red phase and I find that this primer does set really nicely, holds my makeup all day long and helps with evening out my skin tone before foundation application. I also like that this formula is a liquid to powder type of a product, but when its in its liquid state it feels more like a lotion than it does a silicone primer. There is just something about this little $8 primer that me and my skin loves. I use this on a daily basis and should have zero issues finishing it up.

The final product in this product pan is going to be an EOS Lip Balm, I have about 8 or 10 of these products and for some reason I have two of this kind open and using so I decided to instead use one during this project pan so I can make a huge dent in it and get it gone rather than having two on the go. I tend not to reach for these however because there more thick and waxy, so I use things like Nivea Hydrate, but I'm really wanting to use this more every night for bedtime and in the morning when I'm doing my makeup and things. I'm really just sick of opening my drawer and seeing 8 of these and knowing that I'm not really using them. So these you will see in this project pan and in future one's that I continue to do!

So there are all 7 of the products that I plan to use up completely, no excuses, I chose some really easy product and then I chose some not so easy products to make sure that I felt like I was going this project pan challenge correctly but also so that the goals were realistic for me. I could have chose the orange lipstick in my drawer, but lets me honest I won't use a product like that completely. So now that you've seen all of my products, I will continue to use them as best as I can and I'll check back in about two weeks with an update post including pictures and things! Again be sure that if your doing a similar challenge that you leave your links below as I would love to motivate you to use your products and because I'm obsessed with these kinds of posts!

  2. What a great idea to actually use up what we buy instead of just buying and collecting more things. I am all for re-using or at least using until the end and making thoughtful purchases. It is better for our bank accounts and the environment.
