Sit Down Sunday || A Little Shopping Haul!

Sunday, April 26, 2015

Hey Beauties! Thank you for joining me for another little Sit Down Sunday here on Little Beauty Bug. Today I'm going to be sharing a little mini-haul that was unexpected from a recent trip to a city nearest me. I was mainly going for some 'professional' clothing but of course couldn't resist the makeup section at a few stores. I guess I just want to start off by explaining a bit about my Accutane situation and the lack of beauty related things on my blog. I sadly am on Accutane and plan to do a more in-depth post about it but since I am a beauty blog I think its important to let you all know that I'm unable to wear makeup since starting the treatment. Of course, I can wear makeup its just that my skin has reacted and been very dry and feels almost like a SEVERE sunburn which really discourages me from putting on makeup. However, like the makeup addict I am this didn't stop me from making myself feel a little bit better by buying a few new products. I'm also hoping that with some more really deep moisturizing to my skin and cleansing I can keep the dry flaky skin to a minimum and wear at least SOME makeup really soon!

So for today's little post I'm going to just talk about a few products that I had picked up in a recent shopping trip. I knew before going that Hard Candy was one of the display I NEEDED to check out before leaving Wal-Mart and I'm glad I did because I got some great things. I also grabbed a Real Techniques Sponge, since I couldn't find my regular $4 one at the Wal-Mart I was at. And of course I picked up the Batiste Dry Shampoo finally after using the Dove one for so long and it just not working out for me anymore.

Hard Candy Smokey Eyeshadow Palette!
This comes with the most beautiful tin case and inside contains 6 smooth and soft eyeshadows, a mini eyeshadow primer and an eyeliner. It also has its own little book which tells you how to create three very different smokey looks. I'm sure at some point I'll show this in a review. But I really wanted to test and try this out because I heard that these are dupes for the Too Faced Versions. I sadly couldn't pick up the Nude one which is the one I wanted the most, but the Smokey one will do the trick.
Hard Candy 12HR Long Wear Face Primer!
I have seen reviews on this via YouTube but I've never watched one of them. I've also used Hard Candy Primer's in the past and they are the one's I prefer to use from the drugstore. So because the one that I'm using currently I just used up I thought this would be the perfect time to pick up this one to see if its formula and longevity is any different than the regular Sheer Envy Primers. Again this is something I might do a post on in the future or a comparison to the other primers I've tried from this line.
Hard Candy Eye Shadow Primer!
I think, if I'm not mistaken, that Hard Candy did have an eye primer out previously but it was never at my local area. I decided that its about time I give something other than my Milani Eyeshadow Primer some love. I have again seen many people reviewing this on YouTube and the blogging world but I have no taken the time to watch or read any reviews. I'm thinking I might do a first impressions on this product since it was only $5 and if it works I think that would be a great deal for us drugstore lovers and broke college students (like myself).
Real Techniques Sponge!
I mainly just picked this up on a whim and because the normal pink sponge that's $4 from the SpaSource line was sold out at Wal-Mart. I've been wanting to try something a bit more expensive when it comes to face sponges. And upon first touching this I love it already. I feels like its going to absorb water really well and because of its shape I feel like it will help me to evenly apply my foundations and concealers and even loose powder without any issues. I also kind of like the orange color.
NYC 24HR Waterproof Eyeshadow in Tribeca Taupe!
I have again seen many reviews pop up on YouTube about these but haven't watched those either. I lucky found this shade hiding in the back of the display at Wal-Mart and because of it beautiful Taupe appearance I just threw it in my cart. I actually just swatched this about ten minutes ago and its beautiful. I think it will take two layers to get it full opaque but it feels just like a jumbo lipstick pencil. Its very smooth and buttery and it glides on the skin so effortlessly.

Batiste Dry Shampoo!
Last but certainly not least is the raved about Batiste Dry Shampoo, which I believe I can only get at very FEW locations around where I live. I've been using the Dove Dry Shampoo for about a year now but I find the formula really builds up in my hair and the day after I wear it and wash my hair, my hair just feels gross. I'm heard great things about Batiste and specially this product so I'm hoping this does the trick for me and allows me a bit more flexibility in my hair and that it washes out well.
So those are just a few products that I picked up from the drugstore. I do also want to mention that I am on a drugstore no buy as of April 11th and this is the first day that I've really gone out of my way to purchase anything from the drugstore, I'm kind of proud. I am going to be saving up for some Sephora goodies and MAC goodies in the coming months. And I'm going to be trying to build my 'professional' makeup collection a little bit more. I'm just such a drugstore girl at heart. I hope you all enjoyed this little late evening Sunday haul and let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you think of them!
Have you tried any of these products?

    1. I'll probably do a whole separate review on them both. So far the face primer is decent, but some more testing will tell me if I really think its great or not.

  4. Sorry to hear about your skin Krystal - I hope it's back to normal soon :) I had the RT sponge, just one tip is once you start using it, don't stop. I've had two and I used them for a week or so them went back to them a few months later and they both fell apart :( I love the tin for the eyeshadow palette, not very often you see that style!

    1. Thanks sweetheart :) Sadly its having a bad skin day today but there are many good days too. So far I really like the sponge as well, I just find that its very soft and doesn't press as nicely into the skin - but I'm working with it.
