Back To Basics feat. Naked 2 Palette

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Hey Beauties! Recently I have seriously been suffering with some major skin issues from dryness and flakeyness to irritation and dryness around my eyes to large amount of breakouts. You can also see the irritation under my eyes in the photos above and I'm unable to find a product that will help clear the irritation. I'm waiting to see a dermatologist but in the meantime I'm keeping my makeup application very simple and going back to what I love the most thus back to the basics. I purchased my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette almost a year ago and when I first got it I feel in love with the shade 'Tease' in the palette, which is a soft cool toned taupe shade and its perfect for a crease color. I also feel in love with so many other shades and I decided to put together a little post and tutorial on my GO TO look when using this palette! There are so many amazing day time and night time looks you can create with this palette but I always seem to keep going back to this simple color combination! Here's how I get this look:

Step #1: Its important to prep your eyes for shadow and I've done that by applying the Milani Eyeshadow Base, waiting for the recommended thirty seconds and then applied the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk to the mobile part of my lid and blending upwards. Any good shadow primer and color base will work for this look. I also applied some Scotch Tape from the outside corner of my eye to my eyebrow so that this gave me a really sharp precise straight line on the outside of my eye.
Step #2: I then took a large fluffy blending brush and went and placed 'Tease' in my crease and a little bit higher as my transition color. This will help the other colors to blend out around it but will also create a nice gradient effect from the lid color to where the shadow will stop.
Step #3: Next I went in with a flat shader brush and applied 'Bootycall' all over the mobile lid. I decided to pack the color on in a patting motion rather than sweeping the color all over my lid. Because I had the NYX Pencil underneath this will press the shadow into the base making it appear brighter and more vibrant! For a more natural look you can just sweep the color lightly on the lid.
Step #4: Next I took the Real Technique Base Shadow Brush and applied 'Busted' into the outer v and into the crease. I made sure to blend this color really well into the 'Tease' shade that I had applied earlier. This shade deepend up the eyeshadow look but also gave me that nice gradient from the lid shade to the next shade I'm going to apple.
Step #5: Still using the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush I applied 'Blackout' in my very outer v of my eyelid. This created a really dark focal point on the outside edge of my eye and finished the gradient effect from the light to dark. This also helped it giving me that really clean and defined line along the edge of the tape that I had placed down.
Step #6: To finish my simple and easy eye look I just applied some liquid liner to the top lash line to give me eye a little bit more shape (I didn't bother winging the eyeliner out but you certainly can) and I finished by applying a nice coat of the Flower Beauty Extreme Measures Lengthening Mascara (this isn't the best mascara though and I wish I had chose something different)!
And that is the finished look. I always like coming back to this look when I don't know what to do with my makeup or when I'm just needing to get inspired again for other looks throughout the week. This look is also really simple for me to do and takes about five minutes to complete. I also really think this look can be versatile to match any skin tone, eye shape and can be paired with any blush or lip color. If you try this look out let me know as I'd love to see your recreations!
Did you like this look?
Should I do more tutorials?
