Essence All About Matt Powder!

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Recently I had the pleasure of being able to try some lovely Essence Cosmetics and in particular this lovely matte setting powder. I have been interested in picking this product up for a long time because I am really into having a matte complexion when I start my day. My biggest worry with this powder was the stark white color, so I never decided to pick it up. However after using this product out for roughly one to two weeks I do have to say that this is something I will surely be using up and purchasing in the future. If you are new to Essence Cosmetics, or have never heard of them I do just want to tell you they are only sold in Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Canada, however both Essence Cosmetics and Catrice Cosmetics are owned by the same company, so if you are from the UK and you pick up some Catrice product they will be very similar.

As you can see from the image above this powder comes in a clear compact with the name written cleanly on the top in red/pink lettering. This compact is extremely durable and has been dropped on my floor and thrown all around my back for touch-up use and I've had no issues with it coming open or getting my bag dirty. This powder is approximately $4-5 dollars at your local Shoppers Drug Mart and is extremely affordable for a girl/guy who is on a budget.

My biggest comparison for this product is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, because its the one I have used for years and know the best and compared to this powder I think they seem pretty similar. I find the Essence All About Matt does give a white cast on the skin, its not something that's really noticeable and is something you can blend away. However I like the white cast especially for when I'm setting my under eyes and down the bridge of my nose. These creates an even more highlighted effect on my pale complexion. I do have to say this is a more pressed and compact powder and is not as finally milled as the Rimmel Stay Matte, but I think this really helps it adhere to the skin and last for a good length of time. In saying that I have tested this out and yes, I do feel this does last 12+ hours! I tested it out when going to school and then to work and although I was jumping and running and sweating this powder did a really good job at keeping my entire complexion matte! I also find this powder really helps in keeping my foundation on! Which is another great plus for me when it comes to products like this!

Overall I am incredibly shocked at how well this product preformed! I am so thankful that I was able to test and try out this product and review it for you all! I cannot wait to continue to use this product and go pick it up again because it really has done wonders for my skin. I also am unsure but ever since I started using this powder I have also noticed my acne, redness and overall blemishes decreasing on my face! (However this could also be a slit change in my diet). But I am loving how my skin looks, especially mixed with this powder!

Have you tried this product? If so, did you like it?

  4. I recently just purchased this one! I really like it for a quick sweep and sometimes i can find the Rimmel to look a bit heavy if I am wearing full coverage foundation.
    Great for it's cheap price.

    1. I agree. This powder is very light weight and very finely milled so it really sits on the skin nice. I've almost hit pan on this product and it will be a repurchase for sure!
