Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation Review!

Saturday, January 31, 2015

Hey Beauties! Recently if you've seen my last couple of posts you know the drugstore has been loaded with brand new makeup and beauty products and by far the one I was most excited for was all the brand new things from Maybelline. I've always have really good experiences with there products in the past but as of recently I hadn't tried a whole lot of new things from them, so I took this time to pick up just a few things I was interested in and the Matte + Poreless Fit Me Foundation just happened to be one of them. I did not pick up the powder however just because if you know me you know I love my Rimmel Stay Matte, however I may pick the Fit Me Powder up to test and compare to my infamous Rimmel Stay Matte. The Maybelline Matte + Poreless Foundation retails in Canada at WalMart for about $7.96, which is the regular cost of the Fit Me Foundation line that already existed.

The Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation claims to be for normal to oil skin women and to matify the skin while erasing pores and creating a natural finish. These claims can all be found on the Maybelline website. From reading those claims I do want to let you all know that I have VERY dehydrated sensitive skin and this foundation actually did work pretty well for it saying it caters to oily and normal skin. When I first put this foundation on my skin it was very lightweight and blended in like a dream using a damp beauty blender sponge. I do want to also say that this foundation does dry quite quickly on the skin so I would work in small areas with it. After applying the foundation I did notice it building up in some areas like around my nose (where I'm the most dry) and around my chin where I had some slight acne. I also did set this foundation with powder because its something that I always do and I also did find that this brought out some of those dry patches a bit more, but I went with it for that day and throughout the day it did keep me very matte looking but within about 8 hours I did feel greasy but I didn't look it at all!

On the second or third day of wear, I wore the foundation as I normally would with primer and setting powder but I also decided to use my new LO'real Pro Setting Spray, I found this did take some of the dryness away within the skin but on this day the dryness was very noticeable. However I did wear this foundation from seven in the morning til eight at night and I was perfectly matte at the end of the day. But again I felt very greasy to myself but I absolutely looked matte as could be. I also did notice after this day of  use when I washed my face it felt very dry and tight. For the next couple of uses I made sure to apply a nice layer of moisturizer on my skin (which I normally don't do) and I found this did help the dry areas on my face but the foundation didn't stay matte as long as before. I also found that within about 8 hours my redness and acne scars started to show through again, which is something I don't completely mind because I expect makeup to fade, but its just something to note if your looking for this foundation to last a long time. While it will keep you matte it won't keep everything covered all day. However, like I said I'm okay with it fading and my natural skin coming through after about 8 hours of wear.

Overall I'm impressed by this foundation I think it would be great for oily skin but I think it does work well for dry skin if you use it it the proper way and with the right skincare. I also really love how this blended on my dry skin and how easily buildable it was over my redness and problem areas. I would be careful however when building that you don't put to much on, cause with my dry skin the foundation really did cling around some of my dry acne spots and it didn't look good. For the price point and because there are very few matte drugstore foundations out there I would recommend this one. I think its very affordable and does a good job at being a light coverage but buildable foundation. Overall I give this a 'B' just because I wish it would have came with a pump, cause I hate foundations without them and because it does cling to dry patches but not as bad as what one would think!

Have you tried this foundation?  What are your thoughts?

    1. I hope you can find it sometime soon! It is a really great foundation but wish it didn't pronounce my dry patches as much! I'm interested to see how it compares to the new LO'real on though!

    1. I have very very sensitive skin as well and its super dry and I didn't notice any breakouts or any skin irritation! You could always try this in one small area on the face to see if your skin reacts to it! If so, you can always return the product!

  5. I haven't spotted this yet but it sounds lovely. I have a nightmare finding a foundation that is ok on my oily skin as it just melts down my face or pools. I like how you said it felt oily but didn't look it which would be perfect for me!

    1. I hope you can find it soon! I've heard many great things about this being perfect for oily skin as well. And especually for keeping the skin matte. I have also heard it contains a lot of alcohol which is why it helps control the oil, but alcohol is really damaging for the skin.
