Hard Candy Baked Blush in Living Doll Review & Swatches!

Monday, April 20, 2015

Hey Beauties! Its been a minute since I talked about a beauty product on my blog despite having a little shopping spree a while back and getting some new goodies. The Hard Candy Baked Blush in Living Doll happens to be one of those goodies and I thought that this product would be perfect to do a review and swatch post on. If you have been watching your local WalMart you would know that Hard Candy came out with a ton of new products (see Nouveau Cheap's post here for more information) and I believe that this Baked Blush was also something new that they released (I could be wrong though). Anyway, I have never tried any of the Hard Candy Baked Blushes so I thought because I've been looking for something this color and something affordable for a while I would go ahead and pick this up.

Isn't this blush beautiful? Living Doll is the perfect shimmery blue toned pink blush and its only $8 bucks from your local WalMart. In the swatches above you can see a completely opaque swatch (left) and a blended out swatch (right). The right swatch is very close to how the blush actually appears when placed on the cheeks. I don't find it comes off quite as shimmery thought but there defiantly is sheen when placed on the face. If you aren't into shiny or shimmery blushes you won't be a fan of this one. I do also like that this baked blush gives more of a shimmer without using glitter - however I think a lot of brands are jumping on this trend.

Overall the pigmentation and color on this blush is to die for, its pigmented upon first swatch and application and really does a great job. The color is even buildable. However after a few hours of wear I did notice a whole lot of fading with this product and without six hours I don't think there was any blush left on my cheeks at all. This is a product your going to have to touch-up with if you feel like that necessary (I didn't touch up just for my review purposes). The other thing I noticed about this product was the texture, while baked products aren't meant to be as smooth as normal powders I felt like this product was very chunky even when applied to the face. I had to be really careful in making sure that I blended this product out really well and that some spots didn't look spotted with product and were seamless. I think that's the only downfall I had with this product, and I don't even feel like its a downfall because it just something that requires a little bit of extra work.

I think if you are looking for inexpensive blushes I think Hard Candy has a great selection. I think overall the entire drugstore is lacking in blushes therefore Hard Candy would be one of your best options for quality products. I can't wait to use this more as the summer weather gets here because I'm into glowy and shimmery products during that time of the year. I'm really happy that I finally decided to pick this products up because it is a great addition to my collection - in saying that I do just think this blush is 'okay'. If you have the means to go out and purchase other blushes or more high-end blushes I would certainly recommend that because I think there are other brands who produce higher quality products with higher prices of course. But when focusing just on the drugstore I definitely feel like the Hard Candy brand is the way to go when looking for a affordable and quality blushes.

    1. Really? I'm the opposite, I find that baked products are less pigmented sometimes over the regular powder products. I have tried very few baked products however.

  4. This looks such a pretty colour! I'm not actually a huge fan of blush, I like to cover my redness, so adding blush seems counterproductive! This looks lovely for a night out though!!

    1. I cover my redness as well! I like to use REALLY cool toned blushes that way its not like adding the redness back in but a more natural looking flush.

    1. I don't tend to try a whole lot of blushes but this one just caught my eye at the drugstore. I may even do a whole post dedicated to different blush brands and types and so forth for those who are interested!

    1. I get a very limited selection of Hard Candy where I live, but I tend to travel to a city nearest me and I find a lot of the new things.
