Spring Beauty Makeup Look feat. Quo & Gosh Cosmetics!*

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

If you are following me on Instagram or keeping up with me on Twitter you might know that I had the chance to try some products from Quo Cosmetics and Gosh Cosmetics which are both brands exclusively available at Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada. Since we are a few weeks into Spring now and brands have fully launched their Spring collections it only seemed fitting that I put the Quo Cosmetics Spring Collection to the test and also included some of the Gosh Cosmetics products I received.

In the past, I have tried very few products from each brand. Currently from Quo Cosmetics, I own one Face Palette from a previous limited edition collection and from Gosh Cosmetics I own two eyeshadow palettes that I also believe were from limited edition collections. All of these products I purchased when they were on clearance well after the collection they were in had passed. I've loved all three of these products but unfortunately, they just get lost in my collection. Since I haven't given either brand that much love I was excited when I was able to receive some products from the brands and try them out on a larger scale. Today I'm sharing with you the first look I created using the products and also something that is perfect for this Spring season.

Let's first chat about my flawless face base for a quick minute. I generally don't change these products up too much because I've finally found products that work for my skin type but also work really well together. But every so often I like to throw in a new product or something I haven't used in awhile just to keep my makeup collection in rotation. Today I'm using the new to me, Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which has quickly become my new holy grail concealer and of course, the Gosh Giant Blush in Shy*. As many of you know I'm not a big fan of cream blushes just because I find a powder easier to use but this product might have just changed my mind. Other products I used today include:
  • Makeup Forever HD High Definition Primer - discontinued
  • Maybelline Ae Rewind Concealer - used under the eyes
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer - used for highlighting
  • Covergirl Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in 905
  • Essence All About Matt Powder
  • NYX Powder Blush in Taupe - old formula and used to contour
  • Gosh Cosmetics Giant Blush in Shy *
  • Elf Baked Blush in Pinktastic
  • Smashbox Photo Ready Primer Water - used as a setting spray

For a lip color, I wanted to keep things really neutral right across the entire look because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone further and play with some new colors and techniques. I decided to use the Gosh Velvet Touch Lipliner in Nougat Crisp* which gave my lips a really beautiful velvet matte finish. But this product felt a little bit drying and sticky on its own so I decided to top it off with the Milani Brillant Shine Lipgloss in Luminous. This lipgloss is a very translucent formula but it is packed with gold and pink glitter so it really gives a gold flash to your lips. This has been one of my favorite colors for my lips lately and I think this combination of both of these products worked so well in completing this entire look.

The eyes were what I wanted to focus on the most for this look while not having your complete attention drawn to them. I wanted to create a really soft, glowy and Springtime appropriate look while still having it be dramatic and beautiful. For my brows, I wanted to keep things pretty natural so I only used two products in them including the Quo Prismatic Brow Kit*. To start off the eye look I used my normal base products including an eyeshadow base and a cream color base and then the star of the show was the new Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity*. I used some medium shades through the crease and as my transition color, I then used a light rose gold all over my lid and really made the look pop using the light shimmery white just in the center. I finished the look using the darkest gray shade to define my outer corner and then I topped everything off with winged eyeliner and lots of mascara. The look came out better than I expected and I was really impressed with the Eye Palette as well as the overall combination of products I used:
  • Quo Prismatic Brow Kit *
  • Essence Make Me Brow in Blonde
  • Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer
  • LA Colors Jumbo Pencil in Seashells - used as a cream color base
  • Quo Prismatic Eye Palette in Infinity *
  • LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Slim Eyeliner *
  • Rimmel Super Curler 24hr Mascara* - upper lashes only
  • Lancome Hypnose Star* - lower lashes only

Using the Quo and Gosh products as the center of this look, they really allowed me to use different colors, formula's and textures to expand myself outside of my comfort zone. For example, I would have never chosen this brown peach nude lipliner for myself and I certainly wouldn't have paired it with a similar color blush and eyeshadow. Overall I think this look really came out very pretty and something I'm looking forward to recreating for more days this Spring. I also think this look lends itself well to adding a pop of color on your lower lashline or even a bright lip color to play things up. I can't wait to keep playing with the products I featured in today's post and I can't wait to provide a full review for all the products in the coming weeks!

    1. I haven't tired either eyeshadow's either but if their blush sticks are an indication I want to dive more into the brand and try other things.
