Drugstore Eye Primer | feat. Milani Cosmetics!

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Brand: Milani Cosmetics | Price: $10 | Size: 0.30 FL OZ or 9ml

Eye Primers have always been a hard thing for me to test out and try, mainly because I could never find a good drugstore version. I was using an Essence one and then I tested and was using one by Rimmel both of which just simply did not work for my eyes and the shadows that I was applying. About three month ago I decided that I was going to be purchasing the Naked 2 Palette and since I wanted to get the best use of that Palette I wanted to find a perfect long lasting eye primer and so I discovered the Milani Eyeshadow Primer at my local drugstore.

Upon purchasing this Primer I have never heard or seen reviews on it. After purchasing it I did come home and look up a few reviews on it and heard that it was very good! I tested it out several times and found that it was super long lasting and perfect for what I was looking for, however I do reccomend following the directions, the tube and packaging says to wait at leas 30 seconds before applying shadows on top, I believe this to be true. When I first tested this primer out, I would put it on and then move right on to applying my eyeshadows; I found that because of doing this my eyeshadow simply would fade and disappear throughout the day. I found that waiting the 30 seconds to 1 minute the eye primer has a chance to dry and therefore it is able to keep the eyeshadow on all day!
I'm super impressed with this primer, although the size of this wasn't appealing, it is about the length of my index finger and is very very tiny which I thought meant that this wouldn't last me long at all. However you need very little product when applying it to the eyes. I have had this for about 3-4 months and I don't even think this is half gone yet. The only downside to this product is the application, it is a squeeze tube packaging and although I find this very sanitary I do find it a little bit harder to use than if it were like a brush or doe foot applicator!

I could go on all day about how much I love this product, the formula, packaging and everything else, I hope that this review helped you out and I hope that you go and pick this product up because it really is something worth using and trying!

Have you tried the Milani Eyeshadow Primer? What are your thoughts?

  2. I will try your tip of letting it dry for a bit. I own this one and while it's good it's nothing special to me, but maybe I'm just doing it wrong! Thank you for the review!!

    1. I honestly wasn't sure of this product at first either but I feel like letting it dry on the lids makes a world of difference for the lasting powder of this primer. I also use the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk on top of it most times for an extra pop to my colors!

    1. I believe Milani Cosmetics Online ships internationally, I'm not 100% sure though and there prices are actually much cheaper online than in stores! You can also find this primer on Cherry Culture (cherryculture.com) and Blue Scandal (bluescandal.com) - both of those websites ship internationally! :)
